An extraordinary true story of a flamboyant Indian prince who married an English chambermaid, his place in the British monarchy and eventual betrayal, told by his great-granddaughter.
 
The author's cousin is Pakistan's first President, Iskander Mirza. Lynn Innes is currently Emeritus Professor of Postcolonial Literatures at the University of Kent, Canterbury and regularly writes obituaries for the Guardian newspaper.
