Recorded in Durham for the Indian Spring Colours festival in early 2020, this superb concert brought the best of Hindustani classical music to the North East.

Apoorva Gokhale is a rising star of the Indian music scene, who brings to the stage her own interpretation of a rich family legacy. She began her musical training at the feet of her grandfather, the legendary musician Gajananbuwa Joshi (1911-1987) and proudly represents the Gwalior gharana tradition of Khyal singing with its combination of dignity, grace and lyricism.

For her first concert in the UK, Apoorva was accompanied by two of India's premier performers on harmonium and tabla, Seema and Vishwanath Shirodkar. The Shirodkars are much in demand in India as accompanists to the leading khyal singers, and they perfectly complemented the khyal presentation.

The concert comprised three raga presentations as well as a Holi featuring words of Meerabai set by Gokhale herself.
