A beautiful exhibition of work by GemArts artist Jayamini de Silva, a local Artist of Srilankan origin, who is now based in Newcastle.

Working mostly with stone colours on silk, ink on rice paper and acrylic on canvas, Jayamini's work mainly replicates ‘Agony and Ecstasy’ in life of women. Her work presents a wide range, from the graceful lines of feminine movement in dance-like postures, through to statements of sensuous femininity and suggestive sketches from aspects of nature and occasions of reflective expressions. Bright colours and swift and sensitive line drawing blend with a meditative use of empty space, creating haunting scenes reminiscent of the old masters.

Jayamini’s work demonstrates her own unique style, especially of the female form in the Indian and Srilankan mode, creating delightful idylls of rhythm and grace. Her artwork is available to the public through galleries and exhibition spaces all over the North East of England, transmitting her message of Love, Peace and Harmony.

Jayamini obtained a Masters degree in Conservation of Fine Art from Northumbria University, and a Bachelors degree from Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China.
