In Feb -Mar 2020 GemArts and Durham University’s Musicon Concert Series jointly promoted a three day festival, ‘Indian Spring Colours’. The concerts were recorded, and this performance is Chiranjeeb Chakraborty’s presentation of the thumri ‘Nayna more taras gaye’ (by the great twentieth-century singer Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan), which evokes the monsoon season.

This is a recording of the Apoorva Gokhale performing ‘Ranga bhari’, by the legendary 16th-century poet and Krishna devotee, Meerabai. This poem describes the joy of playing holi, the spring festival of colours, with Krishna.
Yazz Ahmed Polyhymnia is a British-Bahraini trumpet player and composer who seeks to blur the lines between jazz, electronic sound design, bringing together the sounds of her mixed heritage. Her music has been described as ‘psychedelic Arabic jazz, intoxicating and compelling‘.
