Urban Arts with Young People (Part of UNITY Programme)
Urban Arts with Young People - Millin Centre
GemArts graffiti artist, Carl Rossati, worked with 8 young people for 10 weeks. He consulted and discussed identity with the group and they explored drawing techniques to draw their own caricatures. The overall purpose was to, piece by piece, develop a representation of the young people in order to create a full artwork.
The inspiring works were exhibited at Newcastle Central Library in July 2011, where the young people and their families were invited along to celebrate their amazing achievements! The works were exhibited in one of the busiest public spaces in Newcastle where GemArts director, Vikas Kumar, and artist, Carl Rossati, introduced the works and spoke about the project at the opening event.
