GemArts

Performing Arts Fund Fellowship - call out expressions of interest

GemArts and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art would like to work in partnership with a performance / live artist to make an application to the BBC Performing Arts Fund Fellowship. This fund is to support an artist at a critical stage in their emerging career through mentoring, support and profiling. We are looking for initial expressions of interest from artists who feel they would benefit from working with BALTIC and GemArts at this stage of their careers.

Please note, the successful artist would work with us to create the content of the bid so that it can be tailored directly to their needs and interests. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees that we will be successful in our bid.

Scheme overview
The PAF Fellowship scheme is designed to support individuals through the early stages of their arts careers. It is an opportunity for an artist to develop their skills, experiment, create and showcase their work with the support and guidance from BALTIC and GemArts.
The Scheme intends to:
•    Identify and support the next generation of performing arts talent by providing bespoke one year Fellowships.
•    Provide organisations with the resources and funding needed to deliver realistic, high quality development and learning opportunities for the individual Fellows.
•    Benefit the organisations that will host the Fellowship placements by providing them with new talent.
•    Create a valuable legacy for both Fellows and organisations.

Fellowships can take place anytime from 1st January 2015, and must be completed by the 31st December 2015. The Fellow could work intensively for just a few months around one event for example, or undertake a part-time commitment over a much longer period. The Fellowship does not have to take up the full year.
We are looking for artists who:
•    Are dedicated and motivated and whose practice is developing or includes a performing or live art aspect
•    Are at the early stages of their career
•    Feel they would benefit from specifically working with BALTIC and GemArts

You must NOT have undertaken any paid or voluntary work with BALTIC or GemArts in the past in any capacity.

Closing date for expressions of interest is Monday 21st July.
Successful applicants will be contacted by Monday 28th July.
At this stage a small group of applicants will be invited to an informal interview to discuss their work and ideas.
The successful applicant will work with BALTIC and GemArts to develop a full proposal for the fellowship to BBC with a deadline of Monday 11th August.
